EAST LANSING, Mich.- A March 12 friendly against the Mexican National Team highlights a seven-match spring schedule for the Michigan State women's soccer team. Head coach Tom Saxton made the announcemnt Thursday, Feb. 28.

The Spartans will take on the Mexican National Team as part of the team's national tour against college teams in preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The match will take place at Notre Dame on Wednesday, March 12, with the Irish taking on the national team on Saturday, March 15.

We are very excited about the opportunity to play the Mexican National Team as it prepares for the 2008 Olympic Games," Saxton said. "It's a great opportunity for our team to get experience and learn at the same time."

The match opens a seven-match spring slate. MSU then heads to the Lakes Showcase in Walled Lake, Mich., for a doubleheader against Central Michigan and Michigan on Sat., March 15. The Spartans then take on Oakland and Grand Valley State before heading back to Notre Dame for an April 11 contest against the Irish. MSU closes the spring at Western Michigan on Saturday, April 14.

Michigan State returns seven players who started at least 10 matches - and three of its top four scorers - from last season's 7-10-2 team.

March 15 - vs. Michigan - 3:45 p.m.
April 1 - vs. Oakland - 9 p.m.
April 9 - at Grand Valley State - 5 p.m.
April 11 - at Notre Dame - 6 p.m.
April 14 - at Western Michigan - 3 p.m.
